What are steam turbines?
A Steam Turbine assists in the transfer of steam in many electrical generation facilities in the cogeneration, biomass, waste-to-energy, and renewable energy sectors.
A steam turbine extracts thermal energy from pressurized steam, it then uses it for mechanical work on a rotating output shaft. The potential energy of the steam is thus turned into kinetic energy in the rotating turbine’s blades. A turbine’s blades are designed to control the speed, direction, and pressure of the steam as it passes through the turbine.
Steam turbines allow power plants to generate power and utilize gas and steam produced in the process to produce additional power. Steam turbine efficiency is determined by hydraulic and thermodynamic parameters.
