What is a Circulating Fluidized Bed Boiler?
A circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler is an advanced industrial boiler that uses circulating fluidized bed combustion to efficiently burn a wide variety of solid fuels while producing high-pressure steam. Unlike conventional combustion systems, CFB technology continuously recirculates combustion particles throughout the furnace, improving fuel utilization, combustion efficiency, and heat transfer.
CFB boilers can burn biomass, coal, petroleum coke, refuse-derived fuel (RDF), and other alternative fuels while producing lower emissions than many conventional boiler systems. Their lower combustion temperatures, typically around 850–900°C, help reduce the formation of nitrogen oxides (NOx), including dinitrogen oxide (N₂O).
