WHAT WE DO
AIR PREHEATER MANUFACTURER
Industrial Boilers America is a trusted air preheater manufacturer for industrial boiler systems, delivering high-performance solutions that improve combustion efficiency and maximize heat recovery. Our expertise and dedication shine through in every unit we produce, guaranteeing reliability and efficiency. The primary goal of an air preheater is simple yet crucial: to boost the thermal efficiency of the entire process. Preheating the air before it enters the boiler requires less energy to achieve the desired combustion temperature. This not only saves fuel but also reduces harmful emissions. Air preheaters in thermal power plants can be used alone or to replace a recuperative heat system or steam coil. We specialize in manufacturing combustion air preheaters for large boilers at thermal power stations that generate electricity from fossil fuels, waste, or other forms of biomass.

What is an Air Preheater?
An air preheater is a piece of industrial equipment that serves as a heat exchanger, installed in the exit flue gas duct of an industrial boiler. The function of an air preheater in a boiler is to recover heat from the industrial boiler flue gas, thereby increasing the overall thermal efficiency of the boiler by reducing the useful heat lost in the flue gas. The flue gases are then conveyed to the flue gas stack at a much lower temperature, allowing control over the temperature of gases leaving the stack or chimney.
In boilers, air preheaters significantly improve combustion efficiency by supplying hot air, which is required for steam boiler operation. They recover up to 60% of the heat from the flue gas and use that to heat the air. For this reason, air preheaters are of significant importance in heat exchange and are vital for improving efficiency across the various industrial processes in which they are used.
Air preheaters, crafted with expertise, are ingenious devices. They ensure the air entering the boiler is just right for optimal performance. In steam power plants, they are one of the most important energy recovery systems.
OUR CAPABILITIES
Types of Air Preheaters
The most popular type of air preheater is the tubular preheater, consisting of straight tube bundles that pass through the outlet ducting of an industrial boiler and open at each end outside the ducting.
Construction Features
Inside the ducting, the hot furnace gases pass through the preheater tubes, transferring heat from the exhaust gas to the air inside the preheater. A fan then forces ambient air through ducting from one end of the air preheater tubes to the other end. The air inside the tubes is then heated and emerges into another ducting set, which carries it into the industrial boiler furnace for combustion.
Overcoming problems
The tubular air preheater ducting for cold and hot air requires more space and structural supports than a rotating air preheater design. Further, due to dust-laden abrasive flue gases, the tubes outside the ducting wear out more quickly on the side facing the gas flow. Because of these issues, Industrial Boilers America offers only the best ceramic and hardened-steel parts to provide additional support.

frequently asked questions
An air preheater is a heat recovery device used in industrial boilers to preheat combustion air before it enters the furnace. It captures heat from flue gases and transfers it to incoming air, improving boiler efficiency and reducing fuel consumption.
An air preheater transfers heat from hot exhaust (flue gas) to incoming combustion air. This process reduces the fuel required to reach optimal combustion temperatures, improving energy efficiency and lowering emissions.
Air preheaters improve boiler efficiency, reduce fuel costs, and lower emissions by recovering heat that would otherwise be lost. They also enhance combustion performance and help extend the life of boiler equipment.
The two main types of air preheaters are recuperative (tubular) and regenerative (rotary) systems. Each type is designed for specific applications: rotary air preheaters are commonly used in large power plants, while tubular designs are used in smaller or specialized systems.
You should consider installing or upgrading an air preheater if your boiler system has high fuel costs, reduced efficiency, or outdated heat recovery equipment. Retrofitting modern systems can significantly improve performance and reduce operating expenses.
Air preheaters are widely used in industries such as power generation, pulp and paper, refining, chemical processing, and waste-to-energy plants, where improving boiler efficiency and reducing emissions are critical.
